The two-hour English tour of the mine was very engaging and informative the entire time. The modern and traditional Industrial architecture is blended perfectly. The main building hosts a large variety of places to see even without the tour including a nice cafe, two museums and the building itself. Well worth the visit of you're interested in old mining and industrialization.

Beautiful place to spend some time. If you want to visit the colliery and the museum, you should allow enough time. You need at least two to three hours.
Since the outdoor areas are open 24 hours a day, a visit in the evening is also worthwhile to simply stroll around the complex.

A great example of discovering beauty outside of the box. The scene is fascinating (good for pictures, inspiration etc.) But the overall experience can be a bit plain... If you are an industrial style lover that would be your paradise.

The renovations on the site are amazing, it's a good example of how spaces can have a second porpoise after their primary function has over. The buildings are in really good shape and you can have a pretty good idea of how the work was done before, the new gallery and cafes are ok, gut place to visit if you are interested in the industrial history of nrw state.
