Stunning views from room and restaurant. Great meals. Good breakfast.
The staff were helpful and it was very easy to get reliable hotel shuttle up from Pirna station.

We stayed for 7 days at the Bastei right in the middle of the place you want to be. Good base centrally located for hikes. Perfect service, friendly and helpful employees.
Breakfast is absolutely complete. Awesome views but get up early to enjoy these views before the tourist do.. ;-)

Very VERY V E R Y important: confirm with the hotel the best way to get there. If you are traveling by train, the hotel has a shuttle that will pick you up from the Pirna train station and one other. Make sure they know you want to be picked up from the train station and at what time. There is an additional cost of less than €10 euros per trip. The walk up the path from the boat crossing is unnecessary and VERY UNPLEASANT if you have suitcases. Ask the hotel for the number to a taxi if their shuttle cannot pick you up. And ask how much it should cost.
From the hotel there are many outlooks and paths that provide breathtaking views. Some of the paths require payment but that is included in the “tourist tax” that you pay at the hotel (just bring the pass they give you).
Breakfast is a buffet in the main building. Dinner is in a near building which provides great views (best during hours of daylight, at night you cannot see any of the view below). Make a reservation if you want a window table.
